About Us

Rachel House is a residential family centre situated in Sunderland that caters for up to three families. Our core values are to ensure that parents have a nurturing and non-judgmental environment in which they can safely be given the opportunity to demonstrate their parenting capacity as required by the court or local authority. We provide a place of safety where children can grow and thrive during the 12 -week assessment process and begin to develop attachments and memories with their parents.

Rachel House is operated by Hopespring charity—a local North-East charity—that seeks to serve the educational, physical and mental health needs of young people and families in our region. Hopespring runs three therapeutic schools, a children’s home and a young mum’s supported accommodation as well as Rachel House.

We operate under the Residential Family Centres National Minimum Standards 2013 and Residential Family Centres Regulations 2002, which form the basis of the regulatory framework under the Care Standards Act 2000

At Rachel House

We believe that every child has the right to feel safe and cared for. Our approach is personal, focusing on the unique needs of each family.

We understand that safeguarding children is a shared responsibility, and we encourage all adults to actively respond to concerns, worries, and doubts about children's safety and well-being.

We believe in treating everyone with dignity and respect, creating an atmosphere where we can all achieve our best potential.
