About Rachel House

Rachel House is a large, terraced house that can accommodate up to three families.  It is situated close to local shops, parks, playgroups and the city centre where there are good transport links across the region.

The aim of Rachel House is to provide you with a safe, pleasant and comfortable space in which you can be the best possible parent to your child. The thought of an assessment can be daunting, but you'll find that our staff are caring and nurturing to guide you through the assessment process. Please contact us if you would like more information, here are some of the most frequently asked questions other parents have had.

What to expect

Living at Rachel House is not just about the assessment - we want you to be able to relax and enjoy being with your child. The home is warm, comfortable and well furnished. There are toys in the playroom you can use with your child, as well as board games, TV, wifi and activities arranged by staff.

Most parents stay with us for around 12 weeks, however, everybody is different, and lengths of stay can vary depending on what kind of help and support is needed.

Staff will support you each day and make sure you know what is expected. We use an assessment model called Parent Assess because we think it is good at showing the needs of your family, and it supports us to write clear reports for your social worker. You will be involved at every step, and we will always make sure you know what is being written about you and your family. Click here to find out more about Parental Assessment.
